The very busy cafe is looking to hire the full-time permanent Baker/cook with the following qualifications:
Minimum 3 years experience as baker/cook, specializing in European/Canadian foods and deep knowledge in Vietnamese food.
Must have cooking diploma or certificate (minimum 6 months training program)
Food Safe certificate is an asset
Fluent English and able to speak some Vietnamese (be able to speak in Vietnamese with other chefs and the owner).
Responsibilities:
Develop new ingredients for muffins, scones and other baking goods
Develop ingredients for making soups, sandwiches, flat-breads, burger and other appetizers such as Vietnamese spring-roll, nachos and fries.
Able to know what baking items and/or dishes are not selling or need improvement and develop new ones.
Design and recommend menu for large catering events
Develop baking and cooking instructions and train, mentor other bakers and staff
Able to test and research new dishes mainly Vietnamese dishes to be added to the Western dishes menu

It is a fulltime permanent position. Starting wage will depend on the experience, but minimum $15.00/hour and will review after 3 months.
