Reporting to the Director of Northern Engagement in the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Branch, the position manages projects and analyzes data to strengthen community vitality, particularly through resource development. Located in La Ronge, Saskatchewan, it will lead the Ministrys analysis of resource development issues in Northern Saskatchewan and develop strategies to maximize local benefits, particularly for Indigenous residents.
The position will also conduct research to identify socio-economic trends in Northern Saskatchewan, and help the Ministry develop ways to strengthen the resiliency of Northerners and Indigenous people through labour force attachment, social development, and human services. The work will frequently require collaboration with other levels of government, regulatory and developmental agencies, resource industries, northern elected leaders, First Nations and Mtis partners and key interest groups.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of and experience with First Nations, Mtis and northern communities, including their cultures, political structures, challenges and opportunities; data collection and analysis practices; mineral and other resource development practices in northern Saskatchewan; and Provincial government structures and processes, and the legislation, policies and programs relevant to First Nations and Mtis people in the North.
