Description

The Saskatchewan Cattlemen's Association (SCA) is seeking a skilled communications specialist to develop and enhance the association's communications aimed at beef cattle producers, media and governments. This is a full-time position based in Regina, Saskatchewan. Some travel is required.

Job description
Reporting to the CEO, the communications specialist will provide a range of services to support all of the communications needs of the organization including writing and editing for print and digital media, shooting and editing video content, media relations, responding to requests for information from internal and external stakeholders and generating content to advance organizational goals.

We are looking for an excellent writer skilled in traditional and new media able to decide the best message, medium and timing.

The skills and abilities we seek include:
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
Proven experience in the strategic use of social media and online presence management
Communication planning and implementation
Media relations and a solid understanding of CP style
Well developed project management and organizational skills
Event management
Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office and Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop

Duties include but are not limited to:

Creating, editing, organizing and distributing SCA content
Writing and distributing news releases and other external communications
Managing media requests
Maintaining and optimizing the SCA's web presence
Strategic use of social media for SCA news releases, newsletter distribution, events, etc.
Build SCA following
Event management

Qualifications
Applicants should have a degree or diploma in journalism and experience in communications, public relations or a related field. Knowledge of agriculture production and the beef cattle industry is considered an asset.
