Description

The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses (SUN) was officially born on January 19, 1974; from that day forward SUN and its members have been strong and passionate advocates for the registered nursing profession and ensuring safe patient care is at the forefront of everything they do.

SUN's history is full of challenges, accomplishments, and proud moments as a trusted voice and leader in Saskatchewan's healthcare and a model for the profession nation-wide.

Reporting to the Executive Director, and as a member of the Senior Management Team, not only do you contribute your insight and thoughtfulness to SUNs overall strategic direction, but functional depth, expertise, advice, education and guidance to ensure consistent delivery of labour relations (LR) activities including collective bargaining, dispute resolution, contract implementation and administration, research, education and communications.
You are comfortable in your own skin, self aware, and demonstrate the learning agility to be a good strategist, a good operator, have impact on culture, build followership, and continue to grow as a person and professional. Your passion and sense of purpose reflect SUNs values of EMPOWERMENT, LEADERSHIP, AND ADVOCACY.

Your formal training is most likely in the domains of LR, health care or law, and your applied knowledge is gleaned from several years working with governments/employers/unions, in the negotiation, interpretation, and application of legislation, legal and workplace practices and precedence, and collective bargaining agreements. Moreover, you know how to collaborate, build consensus and pick your battles. Your references may not all like you, but without exception they respect you for your knowledge, your inclusive style, and your unwavering integrity.

SUNs compensation, benefits and workplace model the culture and practices for which they advocate for Saskatchewans health system. It is a privilege for us to partner with them in fulfilling this role.
