Description

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the HR Specialist is responsible for all aspects of human resource management, utilizing CFN Personnel Policy & Procedures Manual. The Specialist will assist the management with employee relations; creating and revising job descriptions; developing, analyzing and conducting the employee evaluation program; conducting annual salary reviews: oversee the confidential filing system(s); ensure consistent new employee orientations; overseeing recruitment efforts for all personnel including writing and placing job adds; developing, implementing and maintaining a human resource policy & p    Completion of a Bachelors Degree with specialization in human resource management and a minimum of two (2) - five (5) years of direct experience in areas of human resource management and/or administration;
Knowledge of Cowessess First Nation, Inherent and Treaty Rights, federal laws, regulations and guidelines governing aspects of operations and human resources;
Ability to work within the policies, procedures and principles such as the Personnel Manual, Labour Standards, Band Governance Model, etc;
Must have the skills in negotiation, facilitation, mediation and leadership, as well as excellent analytical and conceptual thinking, and verbal and written communication;
Ability to develop positive working relationships with employees, management, Chief & Council, and various stakeholders and partners;
Strong computer knowledge and ability to develop reports, input data, create documents and prepare presentations;
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions;
Be motivated, autonomous and a team builder;
Ability to travel and possess a valid drivers license;
