The Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre is seeking an activity coordinator for its land-based activities program. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a schedule of land-based activities (eg. cooking and serving traditional foods, horse program, hunting, fishing, trapping, etc.), linking interested youth with resource people/instructors, as needed, in the community. The position is part-time with some evening and weekend work required, supervising the youth in the activities through to the end of March 2020. The position is responsible for developing a detailed schedule and will be responsible for ensuring that the parents or caregivers of the participants (if under 18) are aware of all information relevant to these activities and sign consent forms prior to participation.
Candidates will have a minimum of grade 12 education, computer skills for scheduling, reporting, etc. and preferably some youth program coordination and leadership experience. Knowledge of indigenous land-based activities an asset. Must have a warm, compassionate heart and be able to lead and relate well with youth, as well as have a reliable vehicle, valid class 5 license with a good driving record.
