Individual needed to provide youth mentorship and respite for a young adult with a cognitive disability. Position will be 15-25 hours per week.
Experience working with adolescents who have cognitive disabilities will be considered an asset. Previous training in Autism is preferred. A calm, understanding personality type would be ideal.
Applicants must be able to maintain professional boundaries and handle confidential information. Must have good organization and time management skills, and be able to work independently. A valid driver's license and vehicle is required. Successful candidate may be subject to a criminal record check. Applicant will have hours arranged in advance and provide respite service in the family home.
Responsibilities include:
-Initiating weekly contact with the youth/arranging weekly schedule
-Planning outings with the youth
-Working with the youth in the community and/or in the youth's home
