Description

AgriFood Innovation Centre (AGFIC) is searching for a team member for our Operations Manager role at our office in Saskatoon.  

Responsibilities:
Direct and coordinate the activities of the production team to ensure a safe and productive work environment in which quality production standards and regulatory requirements are consistently met.    
Design and implement business strategies, systems, plans and procedures to meet production requirements.
Proactively identify and lead growth projects with respect to construction and project management.  
Manage workflow and processes to meet productivity and quality requirements with specialized state of the art equipment.
Manage costs associated with start-up and manufacturing processes according to budget and customer contract.
Responsible for establishing and executing policies, procedures, and programs that assure products are developed and manufactured with superior quality
Provide visible leadership and recruits, selects, develops, coaches and trains the production team, appraises performance and ensures systems and policies are followed.  
Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery
Manage costs associated with start-up and manufacturing processes according to budget and customer contract.
Prepare management reports (ex. attendance, HACCP and labor) reports as required.
Understand, interpret, report and present production information and metrics to leadership team.
Other responsibilities/project work as required

Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience in processing operations and/or plant management or equivalent and 5-10 years experience in a progressive leadership role in a food manufacturing environment.
Experience in food industry and HACCP and GMP certifications.
Demonstrated understanding and application of lean manufacturing principles.
