Description

The Planning Manager has a responsibility to work in close collaboration with the Director to plan, direct, manage and oversee planning and development services and activities in an efficient, effective manner.  The Manager will organize assigned activities, administer bylaws and issue building and development permits and licenses in accordance with municipal and legislated requirements, GIS management, cemetery management,  working with a vast group of individuals and outside agencies;  land sales, and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Director. The Manager is responsible for fostering close working relationships between Public Works and City Hall to ensure seamless communication, reporting, and information sharing.

Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with major course work in Commerce, Public Administration, Urban Planning or a related field is preferred.
Completion of a Microsoft course is considered an asset as well as familiarization with computerized municipal accounting systems (VADIM preferred).
Formal training in Local Government Administration, also an asset.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license, maintain a clear criminal record check and be bondable.
High level computer skills required
Strong leadership, supervisory and management skills are required. Including the ability to delegate, handle difficult situations and make sound and timely decisions.
Ability to read and interpret construction and building plans and standards; interpret and understand legislative and code requirements
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
Experience in developing and then execution of Municipal Planning and Development Policies, Procedures, and Bylaws.
An extensive background working with GIS is considered an asset.
