Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Parks Person I/Arena Attendant position. Under the direction of the Facilities & Buildings Supervisor, the Parks Person I/Arena Attendant performs a variety of routine manual and semi-skilled tasks in the operation of equipment or the maintenance and development of parks and recreation facilities and areas.

This position will perform the following duties:
-    Maintenance and construction such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing, cement work and painting;
-    Operation and maintenance of City-owned equipment including tractors, powered lawn mowers, air compressors, pesticide sprayers, ice resurfacer and ice edger;
-    Tree planting and pruning, installation and maintenance of irrigation systems and pesticide application;
-    Responsible for the routine operation of arena ice plant/boiler plant and equipment;
-    Janitorial duties at City facilities;
-    Seasonal snow shovelling and spreading landscape material.

The ideal candidate will have:
-    Completion of Grade 12 with experience in arena operations;
-    Possess a Refrigeration Operator's Certificate OR a Fireman's Certificate OR a Pesticide Applicator's License: Landscape or Mosquito & Biting Fly Endorsements at hire with the understanding that all 3 certifications will be required to retain the position;
-    Class 5 driver's license and vehicle available for work purpose with ability to obtain Class 3-A license;
-    Able to obtain SPRA Level 1 Arena Operator's Certificate and SIAST Tree pruning course, or equivalents;
-    Experience and skills in the operation and maintenance of building control systems;
-    Able to deal courteously, effectively and tactfully with the general public.
