Description

The Light and Power Department is accepting applications for a Permanent Full Time Journeyperson Powerline Technician.  Under the supervision of the Line Superintendent and/or a qualified Journeyperson, this position is responsible for the service, maintenance and repair of most aspects of the utility operation including overhead and underground distribution systems, streetlight systems, traffic control systems, metering, transformation, substations and associated switchgear.  All work is conducted within the City of Swift Current utility service area.

Basic Requirements:
    Interprovincial Powerline Technician (Red Seal) Certificate
    Grade 12 or equivalent
    Must possess and maintain a valid Class 1A Drivers License
    Must be willing to become Youth Certified
    Physical aptitude to perform the job
    Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities required.
    Familiarity with computers and windows based applications

Wages and benefits in accordance with the City of Swift Current -- IBEW Local #2067 Collective Agreement  2019 $43.43 per hour.
