The math/science Academic Facilitator/ Instructor is expected to deliver academic curricula from grade 8 to 12, with special attention to math and science, be computer literate, motivate young adults (19-30) to their highest possible performance levels and be able to give and receive constructive criticism; use discretion and initiative in dealing with situations as they arise, be very flexible, able to change and be creative; help the Employee/Apprentices to prepare to write successfully, Departmental 12 and or GED 12; work co-operatively and substitute the other Co-Facilitator/Instructor when needed, and assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Conduct instructional sessions for math and science from grade 8 to grade 12 using different tools including computer-aided training and a variety of techniques and devices to achieve specified performance objectives; identify problem areas of learning difficulties which may require individualized remedial instruction; give the learner performance feedback and help the Employee/Apprentices evaluate their own performance.
2. Conduct Microsoft Excel training, keyboarding and other software applications classes.
3. Evaluate attitudes and work of Employee/Apprentices to help them assess their own personal capabilities.
4. Maintain records, marks and other pertinent instructional and Employee/Apprentices records.
5. Participate in selection of the Employee/ Apprentices.
6. Participate in Job-Search of the Employee/ Apprentices.
7. Co-facilitate the Business Entrepreneurs Apprenticeship program with the other facilitator/Instructor.
8. Complement, substitute and assist the other Co-facilitator/Instructor when needed.
9. Any other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
