Agency Chiefs Child and Family Services is seeking one individual to join our Prevention Team.
The Family Support Worker will prevent children from coming into care. Family Support Workers assist families in areas of self-esteem, personal growth, parenting, anger management suicide intervention, healthy relationships, life skills and any other issues identified in the families needs. The Prevention Worker will incorporate appropriate cultural and tradition practices into all prevention programs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Able to make decisions while working under pressure
Able to work with computer programs (case systems, word, excel, etc)
Able to work individually and work collaboratively as part of a team
Must have excellent reading and writing skills that are essential for reporting
Able to upkeep records / files according to agency standards
Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, Ministry of Social Services (MSS) policies and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) polices
Knowledge and experience in assessments and case management
Knowledge and understanding of trauma in family systems
Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture and / or language
The candidate should be a flexible, reliable, mature and a compassionate professional who; has excellent communication skills, has an appreciation for diversity, possesses good judgment and problem-solving skills, and is committed to professional development.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Maintain a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle while on ACCFS property and on duty
Maintain a clear CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check
Maintain a class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle
Maintain Confidentiality must sign an Oath of Confidentiality annually
Preference given to Aboriginal Ancestry under E-96 of the Human Rights Code
