The Legacy Technical Specialist will provide technical, practical and functional assistance and support to the Kahkewistahaw First Nation with the First Nations Land Management Legacy Issues Project.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Investigate and research relevant background information to identify, review and categorize outstanding issues arising from that management era of the Indian Act administration.
Develop internal practices, policies, procedures and/or laws within the First Nation to attempt to resolve current issues such as survey development of main reserve, traditional land holdings, environmental site assessments, estate management, archiving and research of early records, subsurface mineral reference, and identification of cultural markers.
Build capacity in the First Nation by providing staff with experience in creating lands inventory, analyzing current legacy related issues and planning potential ways to resolve them.
Lead various meetings within the community to introduce the Resolution of Legacy Issues Project for community input.
Prepare basic information concerning the process and act as a resource person on process, procedures and protocols.
Coordinate local data collection and transfer from Kahkewistahaw departments and other partners.
Develop memos, progress reports, briefing notes and general planning documents.
To coordinate the review of draft reporting documents and presentation materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have good written and oral communication skills
Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to conduct research.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
Highly motivated and ability to work in demanding and fast paced work environment.
Be able to work with others and work with minimal supervision.
Have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.
Must provide threecurrent written references along with updated resume.
Submit a current up-to-date criminal record check (CPIC).
