Parliamentary Publications Branch produces verbatim records and indexes of the debates which take place in the Legislative Assembly and its committees. The branch is a deadline-driven environment, as the verbatim is published quickly following a meeting's adjournment. The branch also provides corporate communications services to the Legislative Assembly, which includes managing the Assembly's website and social media.
Input editors work from an audio recording of the ongoing debate to create the first transcript. They apply in-house editing guidelines. They research and document citations, names, concepts, and more to ensure the transcript's accuracy. They work with digital audio, word processing applications, and various research tools. This is a part-time sessional position which works about 450 hours per year, typically for 10 weeks from March to May and for six weeks from late October to early December, with intermittent work throughout the year.
As the ideal candidate, you will have superior English language skills with strengths in grammar, vocabulary, and spelling along with three to five years of word processing experience with proven editing experience. You will effectively utilize research skills and will be familiar with working with reference materials and navigating the Internet. You are required to have a high school diploma, preferably supplemented by post-secondary education in a related field. Proficiency in the transcription and editing of French would be an asset.
