1. Educating the community about addictions and familiarizing them with the services available.
2. Identifying and implementing culturally appropriate programs, activities and workshops targeting various age groups, families, and the community as a whole.
3. Becoming familiar with resources on and off reserve.
4. Developing a resource centre of books, pamphlets, videos and display materials.
5. Preparing and submitting informational inserts into the monthly newsletter.
6. Refers clients to professional services and assists in establishing contact when requested.
7. Arranges transportation for clients going to treatment Centers or agencies when requested.
8. Working with youth groups and providing training in the area of addictions.
9. Serves as a resource person to various support groups established in the community.
10. Assists in planning and delivering Community Wellness activities.
11. Assists in planning and controlling program budgets.
12. Prepares yearly workplans.
13. Prepares monthly reports for the Director of Health.
14. Establishes an aftercare program for those completing treatment.
15. Assists in the Drug Testing Program of the Band.
16. Performs assessments of clients requesting treatment.
17. Maintains an awareness of First Nation issues, Federal and Provincial legislations and programs regarding addictions.
18. Maintains confidential files on clients.
19. Records statistical information of client caseloads.
20. Provides one to one, group and family counseling services as requested.
