Job Description: The Infection Control Practitioner (ICP) will be accountable for providing infection prevention and control related services (i.e. Surveillance, Education, Quality Improvement, Consultation, Research) within Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Infection Control Practitioner is accountable to the Director, Infection Prevention and Control.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in a Health Related Discipline
- Must have current standing with appropriate registration/licensing body
- Certificate in Infection Control and Epidemiology (or obtain certification within 2 years)
Experience:
- 1 year healthcare experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Possesses knowledge and has job related experience in health care
- Works independently, is self-motivated and is self-directed while possessing the ability to work within a team
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate the important components of infection control with all levels of staff and patients
- Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
- Possesses knowledge of, and is able to utilize, principles of program development and teaching
- Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Possesses knowledge of epidemiological principles, statistics, microbiology and infectious disease
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point
Geographic Location: Lloydminster or Meadow Lake
Expected Start Date: January 2, 2020
FTE: 0.80
Hours of Work: In a 3 week rotation: 12 shifts of 7.50 hours
