The Jean Pask Library, located in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, is seeking a Branch Librarian. This position works 56 hours biweekly at an hourly rate of $16.14.
The Branch Librarian will:
Provide circulation, reference and customer service;
Issue new library cards and create new patron records directly into Polaris Library System;
Maintain an orderly and welcoming library environment;
Maintain library materials in good order and prominently display new materials on shelves;
Weed local permanent collection following Parkland Regional Library guidelines;
Arrange seasonal displays;
Select and maintain magazine subscriptions in consultation with local board;
Assist patrons in the selection and use of library materials;
Assist the local library board in the planning and implementation of local programming, promotional and fund raising activities in accordance with local community needs and interests;
Assist patrons in the usage of all electronic databases from the website;
Assist the local library board in developing local policies and procedures;
Deliver programs developed with the local library board;
Acts as Secretary to the local library board;
Provide required informational reports for the local library board (agenda, minutes, reports);
Complete the yearly statistics for the Provincial Library;
Complete monthly programming and attendance statistics for Parkland Regional Library;
Manage daily till and financial reporting to local board;
Report any building issues to the local Town Administrator;
Ensure change forms are sent to Office at HQ timely;
Ensure library is open during scheduled hours;
Report any instances regarding emergency closure to HQ, Library Board Chair and Town;
A suitable candidate would have Grade 12 education or higher, good communication and customer service skills, strong interest in public library services, and proficiency in using computers and technologies.
