Description

The Executive Director (ED) at the SPCA is a senior leadership role that guides the organization through a variety of contexts including day-to-day operations, major fundraising activities and stakeholder engagement.

Job Duties
- Actively participate in board and board committee meetings
- Provide guidance to the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan
- Ensure the organization makes consistent progress towards annual goals
- Develop an operational plan that aligns with the organizations strategic direction and supports the welfare of animals under the organizations care
- Support managerial staff to ensure effective day-to-day operation of the organization
- Oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's programs in accordance with strategic plans
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in animal welfare and animal control fields
- Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery
- Ensure the long-term financial health of the association through fundraising activities and grant writing
- Recommend an annual comprehensive budget to the Finance Committee for approval
- Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget
- Ensure regular and appropriate communications with stakeholders
- Ensure positive relationships between the SPCA and the Veterinary community
- Handle media relations in a positive and professional manner

The ideal candidate will have...
- Minimum of 4-year Bachelors degree, with preference given to applicants with a Masters degree
- Minimum of 5-10 years experience working in non-profit organizations, with preference given to applicants who have animal welfare experience
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven writing skills
- A proven track record in current business and/or non-profit management, as well as financial literacy
