Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Income Assistance Service Delivery Branch, is committed to investing in positive outcomes for clients in the areas of income support and services so clients can regain their financial independence to the best of their ability.

Income Assistance workers are empathetic, compassionate, non-judgmental, well-organized collaborators with excellent communication skills who treat all people with dignity, respect, and objectivity. They accept and understand the importance of the clients perspective in a client-friendly approach to case planning and are flexible when working with clients and their families and community organizations. They are reliable and adapt easily to changes in workload, policies and procedures in a continuously-changing environment and demonstrate the government's core values (respect and integrity, serving citizens, excellence and innovation, and acting as one team) in all work duties and interactions. Income Assistance Workers work closely with a diverse clientele to help them maximize their independence, autonomy, and quality of life.

As a part of a larger team of professionals, you will work with clients in person and on the phone using various interviewing and supportive counselling techniques; assess needs though a strength-based and solution-focused case management model while using the clients own motivations for change and commitment; and develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust case plans in collaboration with the client to establish goals and meet diverse needs.

Typically, the knowledge required for this position is obtained through the completion of a post-secondary education in the human services field. This may include a certification, diploma, or degree and relevant experience.
