Description

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, this individual will ensure the children and families are receiving land-based teachings, following proper protocol to the areas in which the teachings are being delivered. Provide proper care and attention while following the plan set forth for the facility and foster the holistic development of all children in the highest possible regard. The Land Based Home - Program Coordinator will help to maintain the spiritual integrity of the program by encouraging and supporting staff, families, and children to work, live and play in a respectful environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Social Work (BSW or BISW) AND/OR degree in related human services field.
At least 2-3 years experience in managing programs and staff
At least 2-3 years experience in managing and preparing budgets
Experience & or ability to work with at risk youth.  
An understanding of First Nations issues and commitment to First Nation people.
Post-Secondary training in the human service field that includes some study in child and behavior psychology and group work.  
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working in conjunction with the community programs and services, this individual must possess the ability to assess and identify the requirements of Land Based Projects and the ability to refer and engage the appropriate resources. Ability to manage and retain staff. Provide and develop programming for land-based healing activities that foster the holistic development of clients.Liaise between the land-based facility, homes, community and collateral services. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess a valid drivers license and posses a reliable vehicle.
Must be willing to upgrade skills when time and funding permits. Must be able to sign an Oath of Confidentiality and a Non-disclosure Agreement.
Excellent Computer Skills with a preference to Data Base knowledge. Must be willing and able to work shift work.
