Description

The Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Services, requires a Child Protection Worker for the two (2) week drive in, two (2) week drive out position in Buffalo Narrows. This unique team of Child Protection staff work in a two (2) week rotation, over a four (4) week averaging period, working 11 hour days (Monday through Saturday) for two (2) weeks. You will also provide Emergency Duty Work in the evenings, when required.

The successful candidate may be compensated for travel time from their home location to Buffalo Narrows at the beginning and end of the rotation. Staff housing may also be provided. Please note, extensive travel is required while working in this position.

In this position, you will be responsible for investigating allegations of neglect, physical or sexual abuse, and assessing family functioning, determining risk factors to the children's safety, implementing intervention plans, and providing support services to the family, as required. When necessary, you will initiate Family Court proceedings and work through this process with the family. In cases where the children are admitted to the care of the Ministry, you will manage their needs, including placement in foster and alternate resources, assessment and treatment planning to ensure that individual health, social psychological, and education needs are met, and preparation to return home.  Children placed in care on a long-term basis will necessitate long-term care and planning.
