The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking a dynamic senior leader, to be part of a high-performing team with the mandate to enable a globally-competitive, thriving and sustainable agriculture and food sector, for the position of Senior Indigenous Advisor.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister Programs, this position will provide advice, leadership and strategic direction regarding Indigenous engagement in agriculture priorities for Saskatchewan and have in-depth knowledge and understanding of First Nations and Metis people, cultures, communities, political structures, processes, opportunities and challenges at a local, regional, provincial and national level.
You are a visionary leader who is strategic, collaborative and innovative and is able to build organizational community. You also possess superior diplomacy, communication and networking skills and bring knowledge of the agriculture sector, public policy development and strategic planning in order to build collaborative relationships and partnerships externally with First Nations and Metis farmers, ranchers and agri-businesses and communities.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position is obtained through a degree or master's degree in agriculture or a relevant discipline and senior level experience working with Indigenous communities and leaders, or a combination of education and experience.
