Description

Responsible for managing the health, safety and environmental regulatory compliance for the Weyburn Plant and lead operational activities to manage and support all aspects of HSE in the plant.

Areas of responsibility

* In charge of implementation of Nexans safety initiatives and support for safety in the plants
* Conduct Visitor/Contractor Safety orientations
* JSA, SUSA, Interdependency, BBS, Take 5, ergonomic assessments and accommodation solutions.
* KPIs: Lost Time, Medical Aid, First Aid, Near Miss
* New and existing equipment safety acceptance, and safe operation procedures and documentation.
* Incident reports 8D / Incident investigations
* MOL/OHSA/DOH/MOE/DOE/EPA visits, audits, certifications, and filings as required
* Make/implement recommendations for safety improvements
* Maintain SDS information
* Develop/implement local Safety policies, procedures, training and documentation.
* Audits and self-assessments (ROL, 15 Golden Safety Rules, Electrical, NA H&S, 5S)
* Employer Co-Chair of JHSC committee and procurement related to Safety and 5S
* Monthly plant safety tours and subsequent safety work order submission and follow-up.
* Organize Annual Safety Day, facilitate SQDCE & Inventory Count.

Required skills and qualifications

* Relevant HSE accreditation (CRSP or CSSE preferred) or in process of obtaining accreditation
* Experience in unionized manufacturing environment preferred.
* Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
* Leadership skills with the ability to influence and achieve objectives.
* Time management, organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
