Westmoreland Mining currently has a position available for a temporary, full-time Payroll Technician at the Estevan Mine. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, this position will be responsible for timely and accurate entry of payroll data and maintenance of payroll files.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
Verifying accuracy of timecards/timesheets, in accordance with company policies.
Ensuring timecards and vacation requests are input in a timely and accurate manner.
Entering contractor time cards and calculating contractor union dues.
Back up for processing hourly payroll.
Filing and maintaining employee files.
Provide administrative support required by the department.
Assuming other duties and responsibilities as may be required in response to changing circumstances and the economical and physical environment of the Company.
Perform related work as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a business administration certificate or diploma combined with at least two years of experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook.
Effective interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
