The daycare decorator determines where to place the selected furniture and fixtures. In this aspect of the role, the decorator considers both aesthetic and practical considerations, with particular emphasis on unity and flow. After initially placing decorative elements, the decorator may fine-tune and rearrange the room on their own or with management's input.
The decorator will be responsible to manage budgets and schedules throughout the decoration process. Budget management involves not only ensuring that decorations and furniture stay within the managements budget, but also ensuring profitability for the organization. It could include scheduling a few pickups and running to the stores for the right element. Managing schedules and deadlines are equally important, as decorators must maintain a steady workflow and meet management's expectations.
Decorators also oversee and direct the activities of subcontractors and schedule fire/ heat inspections for space.
