The Position: The Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission is looking for energetic and confident person with superior analytical and problem-solving skills to work as an Investigator.
The Person: The successful candidate will investigate and at times facilitate resolution of complaints of discrimination under The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code. You will have a general understanding of the legal provisions and general procedures established under the Code relating to investigation, settlement and adjudication of complaints of discrimination. You will have the ability to effectively design and conduct investigations, and advise on compliance/non-compliance with the Code. You must have previous experience in investigation and conflict resolution. Your superior organizational skills will allow you to effectively balance thoroughness with efficiency. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to interview parties to the complaint, as well as facilitate mediation of disputes in a tactful, effective and unbiased manner. You will effectively conduct research, write reports and draft memorandums of agreement.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position will be attained by the completion of a post-secondary degree combined with experience in investigation and dispute resolution and rights based mediation. An equivalent level of skill and experience may be considered. Legal training is considered a definite asset.
Candidates may be asked to complete a written exam as part of the interview process.
