Job Description: The Youth Programming Development Coordinator reports to the Supervisor of Mental Health and Addictions and is responsible to assure that SASKATCHEWAN HEALTH AUTHORITY (SHA) health delivery and promotion programs take into account the needs of youth and appropriately address those needs.

Through a process of consultation and collaboration with Mental Health and Addictions personnel, youth, other agencies, and community leaders, the Youth Programming Development Coordinator will monitor what programs are serving youth, how best to target youth with these programs, and the effectiveness of these programs in addressing the needs of youth as seen by the youth themselves as well as by others in the community.

Serving as a healthy role model, contact person, and mentor, the Youth Programming Development Coordinator serves as liaison between SHA and youth within our geographical area.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in a health-related field or equivalent
Experience
Knowledge of human development and family dynamics relating to family, violence, trauma, addictions and poverty is essential.
A wide range of counselling skills is required in working with youth and their families
Knowledge of crisis intervention and prevention programs is required as well as the skill to develop these programs in a cross-cultural setting.
Knowledge of mental health treatment resources and the skills to make appropriate assessments and referrals.
A willingness to integrate mental health/addiction programming at a community level utilizing a variety of community partners
A willingness to continually improve existing programs to meet the specific needs and culture of the community
A willingness to build on the strengths of the community and the resilien
