Description

The Saskatchewan Research Councils (SRC) Mining and Energy Division is seeking three Mineral Processing Assistants to join the Mineral Processing Business Unit. The Mineral Processing Assistant will participate in activities relating to the processing of potash, uranium, rare earth and lithium.
Accountabilities
    Assist the Mineral Processing Lab Testing team and the Pilot Plant Testing team in setting up procedures and equipment for processing various minerals such as potash, rare earth, uranium, gold and base metals
    Participate in administration of bench tests and pilot campaigns
    Learn diverse skills such as sample preparation, mineral processing equipment operation and measuring instruments
    Learn procedures for attrition scrubbing, desliming, flotation, magnetic separation, gravity separation, reagent conditioning, leaching, solid/liquid separation, settling and process monitoring
Qualifications
    Students enrolled in post-secondary chemical engineering with focus preferred in either mineral processing or extractive metallurgy
Skills
    Strong understanding of best practices for quality work and workplace safety
    Ability to work in a team environment
    Willingness to learn and stay flexible as job tasks may vary day by day
    Ability to self-motivate, follow detailed instructions and carry out tasks with minimal supervision
Requirements
    Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs (23 kg) throughout work shifts
    Flexible schedule with possibility of working nights and weekends as required
    Working extended hours (up to 12 hours per day) as required
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a related post-secondary school program and returning to full-time studies in the fall.
