Viterra is seeking a Senior Labour Relations Specialist. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, implementation and management of labour relations strategy for North America while collaborating with colleagues in the HR division to provide a wide range of labour, employment and HR related advice and assistance.
This position will serve as a resource for advice on collective bargaining, discipline, termination, and other labour and employment law matters.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the interpretation and application of labour and employment law.
Provide consultative service and guidance to Human Resources Business Partners.
Perform in-depth research on labour and employment issues and provide written analysis and recommendations regarding plans of action on labour and employment law topics.
Facilitate information update sessions on employment and labour law matters to internal HR resources as required.
Knowledge and Skills:
Proven knowledge and understanding of federal and provincial labour legislation with demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to practical situations.
Well developed interpersonal relationship and diplomacy skills. Well developed dispute resolution skills.
Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use or word processing, spreadsheet and communications applications within a Windows based operating environment.
Education and Qualifications:
Minimum of five (5) years of HR experience in a unionized environment, including experience with the negotiation and interpretation of collective agreements and the management of grievance files.
Post-secondary degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge skill and competence will be considered.
