Kindred Spirit is a supportive housing program, focused on reuniting families and reducing the number of children in care of The Ministry of Social Services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
-Foster a team approach with the other staff
-Provide one-on-one support to emergency intake clients and clients who have lived a high risk lifestyle to create stability
-Assist in the implementation of family support plans/case management
-Assist in accessing community resources
-Monitor visitors and ensure that the environment is drug and alcohol free
-Medication oversite
-Transportation to and from appointments, transportation of their children to and from home visits, school, social activities and as required
-Schedule childcare for clients and assist with childcare when required
-Assisting with scheduling in-house programming and programming with other related agencies
-Day to day intervention notes of clients
-Provide administrative duties i.e. incoming mail, faxes, answering phones
-Other duties assigned by Supervisor and Manager.
JOB RELATED COMPETENCIES
-Diploma in Early Childhood Education or related education and experience preferred.
-Must have knowledge/experience working with justice, mental health and addictions, family services, income support, education and health
-Must have knowledge of Metis and First Nations culture
-Experience working with individuals and families who have been involved in a high risk lifestyle
-Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous culture
-Knowledge of alcohol/drug recovery and relapse dynamics is an asset.
-Must have a working knowledge of windows-based computer software programs
-Respectful of confidentiality
-Must provide an acceptable CPIC and vulnerable persons record check
-Current First Aid and CPR certificates or a willingness to take required training to receive certification.
-Valid drivers license
