Position and Responsibilities
Working as a member of the health and safety team, you will be responsible for safety program data collection and data management, conducting workplace inspections, supporting the industrial hygiene program, the calibration and maintenance of monitoring equipment. In addition, you will attend safety toolbox meetings and present safety related topics to the workforce, assist in the delivery of safety-related training programs and participate in incident investigations and job hazard analyses. You will take a proactive role in hazard identification and recommend corrective actions. The role requires you to spend a minimum of fifty percent of their time in the field which includes surface and underground. You will also review and revise safety documentation as necessary and be responsible for supporting workplace health and safety programs through education and mentoring to all levels of the organization.
This is a six-month temporary position.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
Diploma or certificate in occupational health and safety or a related field
Three to six years of relevant work experience
Capable of obtaining or have obtained fire extinguisher maintenance certification
Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Assets:
Construction safety officer designation
Strong computer skills
Occupational health and safety diploma or equivalent
Underground mining experience
Mine rescue certification
Standard Level First Aid
Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewans North.
The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
