The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to work as part of a team to assist with the planning and implementation of water-based recreation in an outdoor leisure pool setting at Buffalo Pound Provincial Park. The supervisory position will entail working various hours including evenings and weekends. The seasonal position would encompass a work term from June until the week after September long weekend or a week past the pool closure to the public.
As a Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard, you will assist in the implementation of the Red Cross Swim program by providing a fun and interactive environment for children to learn aquatic skills and water safety both in the water and on deck. This position will also plan and deliver aquatic fitness sessions that are energetic and fun to adult participants.
You will provide lifeguard duties during public swim times by ensuring a safe swimming environment, by being attentive to swimmers, enforcing safety rules and educating the public about water safety in and around the water. You will also supervise junior staff by assigning work schedules, duties and priorities, completing performance appraisals, and counseling employees on how to accomplish good work performance.
The ideal candidate will hold current certifications in the following: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and LSS National Lifeguard - Pool Certification. You will also hold a Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
