Summer Student JobThe Town of Watrous - Lifeguard
Summary
Reporting directly to the Pool Manager the aquatic lifeguard is part of the Watrous Swimming Pool team responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.Attempt to prevent accidents through the enforcement of rules and policies governing users of the facility.
2.Maintain eye contact with the pool basin area at all times when on deck duty.
3.Rescue when required, any person needing assistance.
4.Provide minor first aid to swimmers and patrons.
5.Assist with cleaning of the pool deck and change areas.
6.Assist with filter maintenance and chemical adjustments as directed by the supervisor.
7.Maintain order in the pool and whenever possible, take steps to avoid potential accidents.
8.Be public relations conscious to all users of the facility.
9.Inform the supervisor of any changes in water clarity, which will affect the safety of the swimmers.
10.Know the emergency procedures of the facility.
11.To assist in any manner as directed by the Manager.
Qualifications
Bronze Cross
NLS
Standard First Aid, CPR C and AED
Minimum age 14 with written parental/guardian consent and certification from the Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course
