SED Systems has been in operation for over 55 years and continues to expand their capabilities in the telecommunications industry. Recently, SED has developed carbon fiber composite antennas for the next wave of high bandwidth internet-over-satellite.
This position is based out of our newly-built research location in the north industrial area. SED Research is an offshoot of SED Systems, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for the satcom industry.
SED Research Inc. is looking for multiple individuals to join our team to assist with engineering and manufacturing efforts in converting prototype designs into production ready designs. SED Research Inc. focuses on the design and manufacturing of composite structures.
Responsibilities:
- Inspection of components using a laser tracker and other methods for the purpose of quality control and tooling maintenance
- Completion of complex manufacturing tasks
- Design and manufacturing of fixturing/jigs, tooling, and products
- Support process troubleshooting and process improvement
- Creation and maintenance of manufacturing and engineering drawings, instruction sets, flat patterns, and bill of materials
- Maintenance and operation of 3D printers
- Coordination and training of fabricators
- Evaluate and trial new composite manufacturing methods
Requirements:
- A Mechanical Engineering diploma, CAD/CAM diploma, Drafting diploma, or a combination of relevant education and experience
- With multiple positions available, 0-7+ years experience is acceptable
- Experience with laser trackers (API, Faro, or Leica), CMM/inspection equipment, or photogrammetry is an asset or related software is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to work independently and as a team
- Able to work in a hands on environment
- Willingness to travel
