SED Systems has been in operation for over 55 years and continues to expand their capabilities in the telecommunications industry. Recently, SED has developed carbon fiber composite antennas for the next wave of high bandwidth internet-over-satellite.
SED Research is an offshoot of SED Systems, focusing on the fabrication and use of advanced composites for the satcom industry. SRI. focuses on the design and manufacturing of composite structures, and is looking for individuals to join our team to assist with engineering efforts on existing product lines and new product development.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis of multi-component systems and structural CAD drawings for composite componentry
- Implement analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and use of other analysis tools to produce models
- Perform analysis, calculations, data reduction and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamics
- Design new products, components, and manufacturing equipment
- Specify and test composite laminates and assembly methods
- Work both independently and in a team environment.
- Support manufacturing of new and existing products to improve efficiency
- Coordinate fabricators as needed for product testing and process experimentation
The Person:
- A Mechanical Engineering degree, or a combination of relevant education and experience
- With multiple positions available, 0-7+ years experience is acceptable
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CAD Software, metallic and composite materials, and Siemens NX software environment is considered an asset Comfortable in a dynamic environment and ability to troubleshoot problems in design and manufacturing
- Work on both design and in the manufacturing facility including hands-on work
- Able to problem solve and clearly articulate design solutions
- Willingness to travel
