Description

The City of Swift Current is operating a state-of-the-art Wastewater Treatment Plant, and is seeking progressive, innovative and achievement oriented staff member to fill a permanent full time position.

Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Wastewater Treatment, this position is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, testing, recording and monitoring associated with the wastewater treatment plant, effluent irrigation duties and related facilities operations.  Staff will be required to be available when assigned to standby responsibilities.

Basic Requirements:
    Grade twelve, and successful completion of Wastewater Treatment Level I Certification.  Preference may be given to graduates of Water Resources Engineering Technology, SIAST or equivalent post-secondary education;
    Ability and willingness to obtain additional certification required to progress through range of operator classes;
    Possess and maintain valid Saskatchewan drivers license;
    Willingness to obtain a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check as we are a Youth Certified Employer;
    Knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in wastewater treatment, monitoring, testing and analysis;
    Knowledge of polices and procedures required for the care, safe and efficient operation and maintenance of plant facilities and equipment;
    Knowledge and experience with computer operations;
    Ability to read and interpret data, charts, computers, manuals, instruments and process indicators and make necessary process and equipment adjustments; and
    Ability to work with minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment and possess initiative with respect to duties and responsibilities.
