Description

The City of Humboldt is seeking a permanent Museum Supervisor in the Cultural Services Department  based at the Museum and the Gallery, as well as community programs, exhibits, and education programs at the Original Humboldt site, Water Tower, and in municipal Public Art.  Under the direction of the Director; the employee will oversee daily operations and supervision of permanent and seasonal staff.
DUTIES
Provide direction and supervision of permanent and seasonal staff
Responsible to work with the Cultural Services Director to develop schedules
Oversee the provision of reception and information services
Train and supervise staff and foster teamwork and communication.
Recruit, retain and recognize volunteers  
Conduct research and write interpretive text for exhibits, education and public programs.
Responsible for maintenance of buildings, sites and equipment.
Oversee the education programs.
Develop and coordinate the public programs, including tours, special events, workshops.
Coordinate exhibits at the museum and the art gallery.
Develop and sustain community partnerships
Oversee collections management  
Responsible for marketing and public relations materials  
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Excellent communication and public relations skills
Extremely organized to manage several projects and sites simultaneously.
Maintaining operational procedures and reporting on activities.
Proven track record in successful grant writing, program management and reporting.
Be informed and knowledgeable about Humboldts culture and heritage
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a recognized Museum Studies program and/or equivalent experience in a museum.
Prior experience in collections management, education and public programs.
Prior experience supervising staff and working with volunteers.
Physically able to perform duties as required.
