Description

Nakoda Oyade Education Centre/School (NOEC) is seeking a caring, energetic and collaborative Education Assistants. The NOEC in Sintaluta, Saskatchewan and is located on the Carry The Kettle First Nation. The school is a designated K-12 community school with approximately 230 students. Carry The Kettle is located approximately one hour east of Regina,Saskatchewan
Working under the direction of the School Principal the successful candidates will be responsible for excellent in teaching assistant practices. The Education Assistant, by agreement with and under the immediate supervision of the classroom teacher, must be prepared to: Tutor individuals; Work with small groups while the teacher works with others; Help students develop appropriate classroom behaviors; Encourage student pride in themselves, their accomplishments, their school and their culture; Help students with prepared materials; Help students remain on task; Help students with the proper use of materials and equipment; Facilitate the appropriate involvement of students; Assist the teacher with student assessment, in the preparation of report cards and in parent-teacher interviews; Use appropriate oral and written communication with students in English and/or the First Nation language. Supervision of individuals, small groups, large groups and the whole class as required; Discipline of individuals, small group, large groups, and the whole class as required; Prompt, fair and consistent discipline focused on the behavior of the student(s). The ideal candidate will strive to develop a spirit of First Nations community among pupils and colleagues. Models a lifestyle that is consistent with the principles of the Nakota people. Display creativity and flexibility within their assistant style and are consistent with the beliefs of the Nakota.
