Description

Position and Responsibilities

Reporting to the operational services general foreman, this position is responsible for the daily activities in and around the mine hoists and shafts.  As the shaft foreman, you are responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and conduct daily workplace visits with all shaft personnel to ensure safety compliance.  You will coordinate and control all production and maintenance work in and around the shaft and hoists.  You will be responsible for conducting inspections and maintaining log books to ensure all regulations regarding inspections of hoisting equipment, shaft and conveyances are strictly observed and recorded.   You will perform equipment pre-op inspections, and supervise the movement of  materials from the headframe delivered underground, removal of all waste rock from underground and the hoisting and sorting of all waste rock to surface.  You will be responsible for updating and maintaining work instructions relating to hoisting and work around the shaft.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:
    Grade 12 education or equivalent
    Minimum of eight years of mining experience
    Extensive shaft experience
    Supervisory experience
    Mechanical aptitude and experience with stationary equipment such as hoists  
    Knowledgeable on regulations pertaining to the operation of shafts and maintenance of hoists
    Strong computer skills
    Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Assets:
    Thorough knowledge of rigging and slinging

Preference will be given to qualified internal candidates and Residents of Saskatchewans North.
