Job Description: The Social Worker is assigned to a specific service, presently the emergency department and intensive care unit at royal university hospital. Responsibilities include providing urgent coverage to all inpatient units afterhours and weekends, assessing clients and their families and providing interventions aimed at assisting clients and families to cope with health related issues. The social worker will have mastery of the instrumental issues associated with the health crisis and be able to incorporate these into counseling regarding emotional issues. The incumbent will share social work responsibilities in the department including coverage for holidays and sick leave as well as the weeknight and weekend standby rotation.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Social Work
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
Experience
Experience in acute care emergency medical social work is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Knowledge of the health region and community resources
Other Information

Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.

Hours of Work: Shift Information: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call
In a 4 week rotation: 12 shifts of 11.78 hours, 1 shift of 8.00 hours
