Description

This postition is for 2020 maintenance season starting mid April 2020. Heavy equipment operators are responsible for operating many different types of heavy equipment used in the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges. This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. This position reports to and works under the guidance of the Foreman.
Duties and Responsibilities
    Works under the direction of the foreman, to complete daily schedule of work
    Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required
    Advise Foreman of any required maintenance or repairs
    Participate in routine maintenance
Preferred Skills & Qualities
    5 + years experience in the operation of heavy equipment in a high traffic environment
    Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures including but not limited to
    backing up procedures, use of flagmen and spotters, signage, incident reporting, required
    Knowledge of equipment operation, cleaning and maintenance requirements
    Effective communication skills (both listening and verbal)
Working Conditions
    Must work in all weather conditions and be prepared for both extreme heat and cold
    Physically strenuous and demanding
    Must be able to work independently and maintain a schedule of work.

Those possessing a Class 1A drivers license or a Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Equipment Operating will be given preference.
