Walker Projects Inc. is seeking a Civil Technologist to join their team.
This role supports Civil Engineers and Project Managers with planning, field surveys, drawing preparation and modeling to assist in the design and construction of various civil infrastructure projects. This includes roadways, earthworks, water distribution, wastewater collection systems and related municipal infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Provide topographical surveys, cross-sectional surveys, construction layouts, drainage surveys, road surveys and civil infrastructure surveys
Prepare detailed field notes and sketches to document daily survey activities
Provide Onsite Coordination and Construction Observation
Coordinate survey layout and assist contractors with contract interpretation
Communicate relevant information to Engineer or Project Manager throughout construction
Prepare technical specifications, respond to contractor questions or revise drawings for addendum during tendering period, price requests and contract change orders
Analyze completed design drawings and prepare inventory of items to be paid-out under a construction contract
Prepare schedules of quantities for use in contract documents
Prepare construction cost estimates
Actively participate in the safety program and ensure all safety procedures and practices are being followed
Qualifications and Competencies
Completion of a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or similar program that is eligible for registration with SASTT
Minimum of two years' field experience is preferred
Demonstrated experience using Civil3D software and modern survey techniques
Good understanding of MS Word.
Excellent communication skills (written, comprehension and verbal)
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 License with a clean abstract
Ability to work and travel throughout the Province of Saskatchewan for extended periods of time
