Description

Reporting to the Director of Community Planning Services, as Senior Community Planner, you will:

Prepare and review planning bylaws and amendments including official community plans, zoning, bylaws and accompanying maps.
Provide advice to member and non-member municipalities on issues related to land use and community planning.
Lead and participate in community consultation process.
Analyze data and use computer programs to prepare land use planning maps.
Research policy and undertake analysis of federal/provincial activities and legislation affecting rural municipal planning authority.
Prepare and deliver planning presentations and municipal planning education.  
Keep apprised of community planning principles, legislation, and processes as they relate to the preparation of land use plans.
Remain up to date on current industry standards, best practices, and efficiencies and ensure association practices are aligned appropriately.
Maintain and update GIS data.


What the successful candidate will bring:

Degree in planning or a related field with 2+ years of land use planning experience at a provincial or municipal level.
RPP designation or intending to obtain that designation.  
Registered Member or be eligible for membership (Pre-Candidate or Candidate status), in the Saskatchewan Professional Planning Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of professional community planning principles, legislation and processes as they relate to the preparation of land use plans.
Knowledgeable about the economic, geographic, cultural and social issues and trends related to planning and development in the province.
Knowledge and experience with GIS software/
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex and technical information in an understandable manner.
Excellent organizational, project management and consultation skills
