Facility: Royal University Hospital
Job Description: The social worker is assigned to adult acute care working with medically complex patients, as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team; specifics of caseload will be assigned by the Interprofessional Practice Manager. The incumbent will have strong advocacy skills, community resource knowledge and will provide counselling support to patients and families, in relation to health crisis. Psychosocial assessments as well as providing therapeutic and practical interventions, including support in discharge planning, are key components of the role. The incumbent will share social work responsibilities with the Department, including vacation and sick leave coverage as well as evenings/ weekend on-call support, if need be.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Social Work
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
Experience
Preference given tot applicants with medical social work experience in the health-care field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as ability to work with individuals, families, caregivers and community organizations or supports.
Advocacy and counseling skills, knowledge of the Saskatchewan Health Authority and community resources, along with familiarity of the Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), The Health Care Directives and Substitute Health Care Decision Makers Act (2015) and the Public Guardian and Trustee Act are also assets within this role.
