Description

D.J. Miller & Sons Construction LTD is looking for a full-time safety officer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be part of our management team as our safety representative.
Responsibilities will include:
- Maintain the health & safety program of the company with the assistance of the NCSO
- Develop and recommend health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide training and review on safety procedures
- Conduct job hazard assessments
- Conduct pre-site and equipment inspections
- Prepare and conduct safety meetings and tool box talks
- Conduct new hire orientations including WHMIS training
- Conduct incident/near miss reports and investigations
- Ensure that all safety reports and documentation is completed in a timely manner

The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and skill sets:
-National Construction Safety Officer Certification
- Minimum 6 year experience in the Heavy Construction Industry
- Knowledge around the operational end of heavy equipment
- experience in the mining industry is an asset
- Occupational Health & Safety training
- Supervisor training
- Valid Class 5 drivers license
- ability to train, influence and motivate team members
