SED Systems is looking for a Senior RF Systems Engineer to take a lead role in proposing, developing, testing, and delivering RF satellite earth stations for high speed internet, earth observation, and deep space mission applications.
The Person:
Candidates must have a bachelors degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Engineering Physics and a minimum of 6 years relevant experience. A postgraduate degree is considered an asset. Applicants must have excellent oral and written communications skills, and be willing to travel.
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
-A strong grasp of the state of the art in RF equipment used in the satellite communications industry, from IF to V-Band, and experience in the selection and sizing of this equipment in complex applications
-Requirements analysis and capture, tradeoff studies, cost-benefit analysis, and build-vs-buy decisions
-System analysis of critical earth station parameters: EIRP, G/T, intermods, phase noise, etc.
-In depth understanding of RF test equipment & measurement techniques developed in the hands-on integration and test of sophisticated satellite ground systems
-Preparation and presentation of proposals, custom unit specifications, design documentation, interface documents, system manuals, and training materials
-Technical team leadership, with support to project management, customers, & end users
Experience in the following areas is considered an asset:
-Motors, gearbox and servo systems, HVAC systems
-High speed A/Ds, D/As, VCOs, PLLs, etc.
-Composites and associated production processes
-Analysis tools such as Matlab, scripting tools such as Python
-Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Visio
