Our company is looking for an applicant who is keen to learn, be challenged, work hard, and grow with our business. We require that the applicant has a minimum of 3 years of experience related to beekeeping. Duties include but are not limited to: Handling beehives, Managing a small team, Teaching less experienced beekeepers, Supervision of honey harvesting and extraction, Supervision of honey packaging, Management of colonies for disease/pests and overall health, Application of science based tools/methods in a beekeeping environment.
The majority of the work involved will relate to beekeeping, however we are looking for applicants who can contribute further to the position and have skills and experience related to operations management; auto mechanics; and/or agriculture/breeding.
The candidate must be physically fit and able to lift over 40 pounds frequently. The duties of the position will evolve over the course of the season and can be tailored to fit the skills and interests of the candidate. The candidate must be willing to be stung by bees regularly and ensure that they are not allergic to bee stings prior to accepting the position. All candidates must have a valid drivers license and access to transportation to get to our farm location (10 km north of Saskatoon city centre) Length of employment: April to November (might run later through entire year, depending upon experience/season)
Additionally candidates with the following attributes will receive priority in the application process:
