Support Workers are a part of a team providing services in a community based setting working with adults with mental health diagnoses and substance abuse disorders.
Duties and responsibilities include assisting residents in the skills of daily living & medication management, organizing & participating in recreational activities, possibly preparing meals for residents & conducting groups in life skills & health teaching. The Support Worker must act as a positive role model to residents & treat everyone with fairness, honesty & respect.
Support Workers must be willing & able to provide First Aid/CPR. They must be able to take a proactive approach & provide appropriate responses to residents disclosing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, hallucinations, delusions or other symptoms & challenging behaviors. Shift work is required. The qualifications: a combination of relevant education & work experience in the human services field. . Must possess a valid drivers license & have access to a vehicle for work purposes including the transportation of residents.
