Are you an Indigenous person with who wants to make a difference in the homelessness community? Do you have traditional knowledge & connections that you want to share? The Phoenix HOMES Housing First team is looking for an Indigenous Cultural Liaison for a full-time, temporary position. What does an Indigenous Cultural Liaison do? This is a unique position where you will have the opportunity to help individuals who were formerly homeless learn about or reconnect with their traditions and culture. The individuals we work with face many problems, such as addictions and mental health barriers, & the Indigenous Cultural Liaison is there to assist our case managers with building cultural supports into their recovery plans. Your job is to engage with clients and help them with any goals they have regarding reconnecting to their traditions and culture, whether this be through learning, artwork, smudging, sweats, or other ceremonies. Another aspect of your job would be providing outreach to clients who have graduated from an intensive caseload to ensure they are maintaining the stability & independence they gained while on the program. Also, among many other day-to-day team-oriented tasks, you would be able to assist staff in learning and building their capacity to be culturally competent. Phoenix strives to ensure that our staff are able to provide services in a culturally safe & relevant way to our Indigenous identified members, and there is always more to learn! Please ensure that you are comfortable working within the philosophies of housing first and harm reductions. Qualifications: University degree (social work, human justice, psychiatric nursing, chemical dependency) OR equivalent level of training & experience. Must have a Class 5 drivers license.
